Scott Berkun recently appeared on the Design Better podcast to chat about the frustrations that designers have working in big companies and how to solve them. I certainly relate to a lot of those frustrations, so picked up Scott and Bryan Zug’s new book Why Design is Hard and devoured it in a couple sittings.
The book goes into more detail on how you can leverage the structure of companies to promote good design. There are a healthy number of candid truths in there about how our egos can get in the way too. It’s the stuff that traditional design courses don’t teach, but that you can’t be a successful designer without.
At just over 100 pages, it’s a quick read. I recommend picking up a copy.
